Fancy Folds

Hallo lieve blogvrienden allemaal, Hi dear blog friends,

Mijn vriendin waar ik een paar berichten terug die 50e jubileum kaart voor heb gemaakt,
belde me op met de volgende vraag; of ik een kaart kon maken voor een koppel dat
enige tijd geleden 60 is geworden en die nu op pensioen gaan en daar een feestje voor
geven. Zij houd heel erg van vintage, het is voor én een man én een vrouw en voor hun
pensionering, of ik àl die elementen in 1 kaart kon steken ???????????????????????
Ik kan jullie verzekeren dat dit een uitdaging van formaat was voor mij. Ik heb daar toch
twee dagen over moeten nadenken en brainstormen. Maar ik denk dat het me gelukt is.
Ik heb de kaart zo gemaakt dat er veel meer plaats is en ik heb de voorzijde aan hun
beide gewijd en de binnenzijde 1 kant voor haar en 1 kant voor hem. Dit was behoorlijk
moeilijk want voor hem moest het toch stoer zijn en met mannelijke kleuren en voor
haar net het omgekeerde maar toch moesten de twee compatibel zijn en geen kakofonie
vormen. Ik ben benieuwd naar jullie mening.....

My friend for whom I made the 50e anniversary card a few posts back called me with
the following request: if I could make a card for a couple who have become 60 some time
ago and who are now going on retirement, for this occasion they are throwing a party.
She loves vintage, it's for theire retirement, she's female, he's male if I can put all of
these elements into one card ????????????????????? I tell you this was one big challenge
for me, something that I have never done before (happens to me a lot lately) I have had to
think about this and brainstorm over it for 2 days. It had to be feminin on one side but
also masculin on the other side. This is how I fixed this problem, the front I dedicated to
both of them, the inside I made a fancy fold to have more space and I used one side for
her which is very feminin and the other side I used for him which is very masculin and
the referral to theire retirement is somewhat in the middle. It sure wasn't easy because I
had to find a match between the feminin colours with the masculin colours. I had to
avoid that it would become a cacophony. I think (I HOPE) I succeeded, I really look
foreward to find out what you all think of it.....

Ik ga jullie eerst enkele details tonen. I will first show you some of the details.

De dame is gestempeld en dan heat embossed en om een zachte kleur met

een fijne glans te krijgen heb ik twee embossingpoeders gemengd

Papermania pink met tinsel snowflake. Daarna het ik het geheel met

een waterbrush ingekleurd met Inka Gold Oud zilver en met een tissue

opgeblonken zodat het mooi zou glanzen.

 

The lady is stamped and then heat set but to achieve a soft colour with some

shine I mixed two embossing powders Papermania Pink with Papermania Tinsel

Snowflake. After that I coloured it in with a waterbrush and Inka Gold Old Silver

and buffed it up to make it shine.

 

 

Op deze detail foto zie je hoe mooi glinsterend de onderkant van haar jurk is.

On this detail pic you see how luxurious her dress looks with the sparkles

and shine.

 

Met het parapluutje heb ik hetzelfde gedaan en het strikje heb is grijze organza dat ik

gekleurd heb met Dylusions Ink spray Bubbelgum Pink.

which I coloured with Dylusions Ink spray Bubbelgum Pink.

en ticketjes zijn handgemaakt en bestempeld en beinkt.

Hier heb ik ook gestempeld dan bewerkt met embossing poeder copper en

ingekleurd weer met Inka Gold Oud Zilver.

Also here I stamped the image heat set it with Papermania Copper powder

and coloured it in with Inka Gold Old Silver and a waterbrush and then buffed it.

 

Hier zie je de glans beter.

Here you see the shine that it has.

Ook hier is alles handgemaakt. De gears zijn van een Spellbinders

embossing folder dan bewerkt met embossing poeder copper en uitgeknipt

en als finish wat gesso opgedaan.

with embossing powder copper and finished with some gesso.

kaart sluit.

Er moesten ook 8 namen opgeschreven kunnen worden, dus

ook de achterzijde dan maar benut en met een label gewerkt.

There was a need to write 8 names on the card so I also used the

back of the card and worked with a label.

Daisy & Basset

Goedemiddag allemaal - Good afternoon to you all,

Hebben jullie lekker gelunched ? Of misschien moet je nog gaan eten ?
In dat geval laat het smaken. Deze derde kaart voor vandaag is effe een snelle post.
Er valt eigenlijk ook niet veel over te zeggen, het was een kaartje zoals ik er al eerder
heb gemaakt dus zat ik in mijn comfortabele zone, al moet ik zeggen dat voor mij
elke kaart opnieuw een uitdaging is niet zozeer de techniek die je dan gebruikt maar
het samenstellen van kleuren, papier, decoraties en zo.

If that's the case bon apetite. My third card for today is a quick post and I don't have to
say a lot about it. It's a technique that I have done before - colouring with my Faber's.
So this time I was in my comfort zone. Although I have to say that to me every card
is a challenge when it comes to choosing your colours, papers, embellies etc...

Monochromatic

Hallo allemaal-ben ik weer, Hi everyone-here I am again,

Gisteren avond heb ik nog een kaart gepost op mijn blog omdat één challenge waar ik die
kaart wilde laten aan meedoen bijna zijn sluitingstijd had, dus nog snel snel ingezonden.
En nu ben ik er alweer met een kaart ook omdat één van de challenges waaraan ik ze wil
laten meedoen bijna sluit. En straks post ik er nog één om dezelfde reden. Druk hier bij mij
vandaag dus.

Yesterday evening I still quickly posted a card on my blog because one of the challenges
I wanted to participate in was about to close. Today the same song I am posting this card
now because one of the challenges will close this evening. And because I need to go out
today and don't know when I will be back it's much safer to do the post right now. But
around noon I will still post a third card for the same reason. After that I'll be off to my
appointment.

De kaart die ik gemaakt heb is net zoals die van gister avond iets dat ik nog nooit eerder
gedaan heb. Het is een monochromatic kaart. Ik heb dat al vaak bij anderen gezien en ik
vind het zo speciaal en zo mooi. Ik had echter totaal geen benul van hoe ik eraan moest
beginnen, dan maar een sprong in het diepe gedaan. Ik ging aan mijn craft tafeltje
zitten en begon. Eerst wàt ga ik doen, dat was al snel gekozen voor mij, ik heb bij Hobby
Cutz onlangs twee Aurora Wings digi's gewonnen (die ik zelf mocht kiezen) en die zijn
zo mooi dat ik persé die wilde gebruiken. Dus eerst maar eens de digi afprinten. Dan was
het al snel duidelijk voor mij dat ik zou gaan kleuren, met mijn favoriete inkleur methode
de Faber Castell pencils. Maar welke kleur ? Ik besloot mijn doos te openen en de kleur
waar ik de meeste potloden van heb die zou het worden. (Ik heb namelijk nog lang niet
alle Faber potloden) Tadaaaa, spannend..... Oh nee 'GROEN' van alle kleuren heb ik de
meeste groene ? Hoe komt dat nu ? Het is ver van mijn favoriete kleur, (ik vind ze
vooral op kaarten van een ander mooi en dan verkondig ik steevast dat ik meer groen moet
gaan gebruiken maar ik doe het nooit) Maar beslist is beslist en ik dacht bij een
monochromatic kaart moet je toch verschillende tinten van één en dezelfde kleur gebruiken.
(als dat niet zo is mag iemand mij dit vertellen want eigenlijk wist ik helemaal niet waar ik
mee bezig was) dus groen wordt het. Ik ben benieuwd wat jullie ervan gaan vinden. Als je
het maar niets vind mag je mij dat gerust vertellen. Zelf vind ik het wel speciaal geworden
en eigenlijk vind ik het ook wel mooi dankzij de prachtige digi van Aurora Wings,
en ook het groene is me zeer goed bevallen

The card that I have made for this theme is as was the case yesterday, something that I
had never done before. It's a monochromatic card. I've seen it several times on other blogs
and I like it, it's very beautiful, very special. However I didn't have a single clue of how to
make such a card. So I took a leap of faith. (Is that correct ? Is this how you say it when
you don't know what you are doing but you jump and go for it ?) Anyway I did ! ;-)
So I sat down on my carft table, first what shall I do ? That was an easy decision, a few
weeks ago my prize over at Hobby Cutz were two Aurora Wings digi's (of my own choosing)
& they are so very beautiful I absolutely wanted to use one of these. That was step one.
Then again what to use ? It was clear to me I wanted to colour using my favourite method
which is the Faber Castell pencils. Step 3 which colour ? Since I far don't have all the Faber
pencils yet I decided to open my box and use the colour of which I have the most pencils.
Fair enough, sounds good. Tadaaaa...... exciting.... What ? Oh no, no-no-no of all colours it's   'GREEN' ?????
This is far from one of my favourite colours. (I particularly like this colour on someone else's
card, and then I always proclaim I should use more green, but I never do) But this is what I
had decided and I had to put up with it. Besides I thought you needed lots of different
shades of one colour for a monochromatic card, so it had to be green. (If that is not correct
please tell me so, since actually I didn't have the slightesd idea off what I was doing)
Don't know anything about this technique. Therefore I am so extremely curious what you
all will think of this card. I myself am rather pleased with the outcome, it's kinde special I
think, thanks to the most beautiful Aurora Wings digi and I must say I am pleased with
the green aswell. BUT if you don't like it a bit please tell me so.
(otherwise I will try and do this again one day ) So are you ready ? Here it comes....

 

Sentimental sundays challenge I appologize I had al forgotten about the fact, you

had to add a sentiment, so I added it afterwards and therefore it has become just

a small one.

 



                                  

 

I also added a little bit sparkle by dipping these dark green roses into glue and then

into green glitter powder.

 

Ik heb een beetje bling toegevoegd door deze donkere groene rozen in lijm

te deppen en daarna in groen glitter poeder.

Daarom hou ik zo van challenges, ze halen je UIT je comfortabele

hoekje en daar hou ik van. Nu maar hopen dat jullie deze kaart kunnen smaken?!

Almost all  the things that I have used are  from my stash. The green paper roses

are in my stash like forever, the green paper aswell, I also used a lot of

green paper snippets to make the die cuts from. The green

glitter powder is there for ages (since it came in a pack of 3 and

I bought it for the 2 other colours)

 

 

Water Colour

Hoi, Hoi allemaal - Hi there everyone,

De kaart die ik voor vandaag heb is iets dat ik nog nooit gedaan heb. Er waren twee
challenges waar de opdracht water colour was en ik heb me laten uitdagen.
Wat ik al wel eens gedaan had was een stempel inkleuren met Distress Ink door
middel van een water brush maar ik wilde een stap verder gaan. Dus ben ik in de winkel
acquarel water colour papier gaan halen en ben aan de slag gegaan.

The card I have for today is something I have never done before. There were two challenges
and the theme was water colouring so I've let them challenge me. What I have done before
was colouring a stamp with Distress Ink by means of a waterbrush but for these
 challenges I wanted to puch it further. So I went to the store and bought some
acquarell watercolouring paper and started fiddling around.

Hier zie je een aantal pogingen, toen wist ik nog steeds niet wat ik

uiteindelijk als achtergrond wilde.

 

Here you see a few attempts, by then I still didn't know what I

in the end wanted as background.

 



 

En hier is mijn afgewerkt project. Eigenlijk ben ik er best wel tevreden over.

 

And here is my finished project. Actually I am rather happy with the result.

 



 

Ik zal je even vertellen hoe dit tot stand is gekomen

Ik heb een stuk acquarell watercolour papier genomen van 9,5x10 cm

Ik heb mijn stempel in dit geval één van Inkylicious - Ivy Wall op

mijn acryl blok gelegd en ik heb met een sponge dauber twee soorten

Distress Ink aangebracht pine needles en barn door. Dan heb ik met een

mini mister er water opgesprayed en onmiddellijk daarna op mijn papier gestempeld.

Zo krijg je dat waterige effect. Dan heb ik dit opzij gelegd om het in de lucht

te laten drogen dan blijven de kleuren mooier tegenover dat je er met je heat tool

op zou zitten. Terwijl dit droogde heb ik op een restje acquarell papier

de vlieg gestempeld met embossing inkt en heat embossed met zwart embossing

poeder van Papermania. Dan heb ik ze met een waterbrush ingekleurd met

Distress Ink mustard seed en weathered wood. De stempel is van Knorr Prandell.

Ik heb de vlieg dan uitgeknipt. Van zodra de waterverf droog was heb ik dat gekleefd

op een stuk donker groen linnen kaart karton van 10x10,5 cm.

Dit geheel heb ik dan weer aangebracht op ecru kaart karton van 14x28cm

dat ik dubbelgevouwen heb. De tekst stempel erop gestempeld met Archival Jet Black

de stempel is van SU. Als laatste de vlieg opgekleefd met foam tape.

 

I'll tell you how I made this card

I took a piece of the acquarell watercolour paper of 3 3/4" x 4"

Matted my stamp on an acrylic block in this case I used the Inkylicious

Ivy Wall stamp. I've put Distress Ink on the stamp with a sponge dauber I used

pine needles and barn door. Then I sprayed water over it with a mini mister, and

immediatly stamped on the paper. This way you get that watery effect. I left it to air dry

because the colours stay more fibrant than if you were to use the heat tool to dry it.

While this was drying I stamped the fly with embossing ink and heat set it

with Papermania black embossing powder. Then I coloured it with Distress Ink

musterd seed and weathered wood for the wings and I used a waterbrush.

I cut out the fly with a pair of scissors.

When everything was dry I matted the watercolour piece on dark green linnen

cardstock 4" x 4 1/8" and matted this lot on light fawn cardstock 5 1/2" x 11" and

this was folded in half. The sentiment was stamped with Archival Jet Black and

is from SU. To finish up I glued the fly on the card with foam tape.

Warm in the winter

Hallo allemaal, Hi everyone,

Ik wil jullie even eerst heel hartelijk bedanken voor de moeite die jullie doen om hier
een kijkje te komen nemen en om een berichtje achter te laten. Bij deze dus, dank je wel.
Het doet enorm veel deugd als je werk gewaardeerd wordt daarom zijn jullie bezoekjes
en berichtjes zo ongeloofelijk gewaardeerd door mij.

First I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to visit my blog to have a look
around and for leaving me a comment. So thank you so much. It feels so great when
others appreciate your craft work therefore I appreciate your visits and comments so much.

Mijn bericht en kaart voor vandaag is er één die ik nog op de valreep gemaakt heb om nog
mee te doen met een challenge. Ik ben benieuwd wat jullie ervan vinden want ik heb
moeten inproviseren om hetgeen ik in mijn hoofd had bij benadering te maken. Hoe dat
zo zal zo dadelijk duidelijker worden.

My post for today is a card that I had started but not found the time to finish it.
But now I had to if I still wanted to be in time for the challenge that I had in mind
for this card. I am curious what you think of it since I had to improvise. What I had
in mind I couldn't make because I didn't have the right materials for it. So I improvised.

 

Ik wilde heel graag ijssterren toevoegen maar zo'n mal heb ik niet.

Ik weet dat er vorig jaar mooie mallen zijn uitgekomen maar helaas, ze zitten niet

ik dat gevoel met de takjes en bloemen toch een beetje kunnen oproepen.

Ik dacht bij mezelf als ik die bloem die ik op mijn vorige kaart heb gemaakt nu

eens verklein en dan met een ijzige kleur dan heb ik misschien in plaats van een

ijsster een ijsbloem en hopelijk brengt dat ook een beetje dat ijsgevoel over.

 

I really wanted to add some snowflakes/ice crystals to my card but I don't

have such dies. I know that there were some lovely dies for this, new on the market

last year, alas they are NOT in my dies folder. Since I had a winter

landscape in my mind I had to improvise. I hope the feeling of a winter landscape

is there ? I thaught if I make a smaller version of the flower I made on my

yesterdays card  and use some icy colour and ice stickles in the middle,

maybe this will do as a replacement for the snowflakes/ice crystals.

 

 

Om een beetje sparkle toe te voegen heb ik stickles gebruikt.

To add some sparkle to it I added Ice Stickles.

 

 

 Hier zie je het sneeuw gedeelte dat heb ik gedaan met flock dat ik

gemengd heb met wit glitter poeder. Echte sneeuw glinsterd ook zo mooi in de zon,

vandaar de toevoeging van glitter.

 

Here you see the snowy part. I've made it with flock that I mixed with

white glitter powder. Real snow also has a beautiful glitter in the sun that's why

I added the glitter powder.

Hallo allemaal,  Hi everyone,

Ik hoop dat jullie aan het genieten zijn van jullie zondag ? Hier is het maar druilerig weer.
Dit is even een snelle post zodat ik kan gaan verder poetsen, schoonfamilie op
bezoek strakjes en het was zo'n drukke week dat ik nog niet veel heb kunnen doen.

I hope that you are all enjoying your sunday ? Here the weather is very drizzly and dark.
This is a quick post so that I can go on with my house cleaning. My inlaws are coming to
visit us this afternoon and it has been such a busy week that I hadn't had the time to do
much in the house, so you all know the drill !

Ik ga maar meteen over naar mijn kaartje.

En hier een close-up van de bloem die ik gemaakt heb.

Zo heb ik de kaart gemaakt:

Basis wit kaart karton 14x28 en dubbelvouwen

Daarop een stuk oranje linnen karton 13,5x13,5

Design papier Polka Dot erop van 13x13 (action)

Een vierkant in oranje linnen karton van 9,5x9,5

Daarop een vierkant van 9x9 design papier polka dot leder look (action)

De fabeelding is een digi van Crafty Sentiments Designs en is ingekleurd

met Faber Castell Polychromos;

gelaat/lichaam: 132-189-131 haar: 182-104-185 jurk/schoenen: 115-278-219

bloemen: 146-170-129-185-156-109-115-266

Om de polka dots op de jurk te maken heb ik een Joy! crafts stencil gebruikt 6002/0601

De grote bloem heb ik gemaakt van wit kaart karton en Distress Ink spiced marmelade

lang geleden heb ik eens een YouTube filmpje hierover gezien en nu eindelijk eens

iets mee gedaan. In het midden een kleefparel.

Twee verschillende kleuren satijn lint voor de strik en de parel erop in het midden was

een witte (had geen oranje meer) die ik gekleurd heb met een copic marker YR16

Om dingen te kleuren met een copic marker als je de juiste kleur niet meer in huis hebt is

een geweldige tip die ik gekregen heb van Esther van Esthers Kaarten Blog.

De takjes onder de bloem is wit kaart karton bewerkt met de spritzer tool en een

Memento marker Bamboo Leaves daarna geponst met de Nellie Snellen pons FLP004

De twee cirkels zijn uitgesneden met de Sizzix mal Framelits scalloped circles.

 

This is how I made this card:

Base is white cardstock 5 1/2" x 11" fold in half

Then I layerd orange linnen cardstock 5 1/4" x 5 1/4"

On top of that DP Polka Dot of 5 1/8" x 5 1/8"

I also cut a square orange linnen piece of 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"

On top of that a piece of DP Polka Dot leather look of 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"

The image is a digi from Crafty Sentiments Designs and is called

'Tess Summer Fun' I coloured het with Faber Castell;

face/body 132-189-131 hair 182-104-185 dress/shoes 115-278-219

flowers 146-170-129-185-156-109-109-115-266

For the polka dots on the dress I used a Joy! crafts stencil 6002/0601

The big flower I made out of white cardstock and DI spiced marmelade

(This is not my idea I saw it long time ago on YouTube and finally tried it myself)

For the bow I used two different colours of satin ribbon and the pearl on top

of the bow is actually a white one which I coloured with a copic marker YR16

(I didn't have any orange pearls left. The idea to colour things with a copic marker

has been given to me by Esther from Esthers Card Blog)

For the branches under the flower I used my spritzer tool and a Memento

marker Bamboo Leaves and then punched them with my FLP004 punch

The two circles are cut out with the Sizzix Framelits scalloped circles.

Some butterflies punched out of a snippet orange cardstock and also the pearls

on the butterflies are coloured with a copic marker.

BTW the cardstock for the branches was a snippet too. ;-)
To finish I added some orangy pearls at the bottom who refer to polka dots aswell.

Zo, dat is het alweer. Ik was toch maar even eerst gaan verder poetsen want dit
bericht maken duurde toch langer dan gedacht. Alles is nu weer spic en span. Op zo'n
moment ben je dan weer wel heel erg blij dat je in zo'n heel klein stulpje woont ;-)

That's it for today. In the end I decided to continue my cleaning first since making
this post took more time than I had in mind. But the house is bright and shiny again.

Tea for Two

Goedemorgen allemaal, Good morning everyone,

Vandaag heb ik een hele leuke kaart, mijn aller eerste theepot ;-)
Ik vond het heel leuk om te maken en het is dankzij de challenges dat ik er eindelijk
eens aan begonnen ben om er één te maken.

Today I have a very amusing card, my first teapot card ever ;-)
It was fun making it but it is thanks to the challenges that I finally got to make one.

Er was een challenge opdracht "alles behalve vierkant" een challenge "Let's have tea"
waarbij je ook zwart-roos-bloemen en parels moet gebruiken een challenge "alles
behalve een kaart" en een challenge "gebruik je twee favoriete embellishments"
Dus hier komt ze dan ...

There was a challenge "everything except square" another one "Let's have tea" and
you also have to use pink-black-flowers-pearls another challenge says "Everything
but a card" and the last one "use your two favourite embellies" So here it comes ...

 

Omdat je bij één challenge zwart moest gebruiken heb ik dit als basis kleur genomen.

One the challenges said you must use black so I used this as my base colour.

 

 

Ik vind het tekstje geweldig 'Kom en drink een pot thee mee met mij,

mijn huis is warm en mijn vriendschap is gratis' natuurlijk in het

Nederlands vertaald rijmt het niet zo leuk als in het engels hé.

I just love the round sentiment "Come and share a pot of TEA,

my home is warm and my friendship is FREE."

 

 

Ook dit tekstje vind ik echt geweldig. En heel passend voor de challenge

"Let's have tea".

Also this sentiment I love a lot and so very fitting for the challenge

"Let's have tea"

 

 

 

 

En dit is de achterzijde, die heb ik bewust sober gehouden.

This is the backside and I kept it frugal.

 

Zo heb ik ze gemaakt:

De basis in zwart kaart karton de vorm van de theepot met een Dutch Doobadoo stencil.

Om de harde zwarte kleur enigzins te verzachten heb ik de hele rand rondom rond

bewerkt met Versacolor inkt White. Daarop heb ik design papier gekleefd

van Studio Light en de randen bewerkt met Distress Inkt vintage photo.

De ronde tekst afgeprint op een zwarte gekartelde cirkel gekleefd en in het

midden van de theepot gekleefd. Ook hier heb ik het zwart weer zachter gemaakt

met witte Versacolor inkt. Een halve boog bloemetjes, blaadjes en meeldraden.

In het midden enkele roze kleefparels. Bovenaan in het deksel een gaatje

gemaakt en dichtgebonden met een lint zodat er een roze strik op staat.

 

This is how I made it:

The base is the teapot shape in black cardstock made with a Dutch Doobadoo

shape art stencil. To make the harsh black a little bit softer I went all

around the edge with Versacolor White ink. On the black I layered DP from

Studio Light and went around the edges with DI vintage photo.

I printed the sentiment and layered it on a scalloped black circle of which I also

softened the edges with the white ink. Attached this with foam tape in the middle of

the pot. Also the sentiment on the side is matted on black cardstock softened

with white ink and DI vintage photo around the edge.

Half a cirkle flowers, leaves and stamens around the sentiment.

Some adhesive pink pearls. In the top of the lid I punched a little hole and pulled

a pink ribbon through and made a bow with it. This keeps the two parts

of the card together.

As You Like It # 34 - Two favourite embellishments and why
My two favourites are flowers (all kinds) and adhesive pearls.
Why ? because both of them you can addapt to the colours of your card.
Is the main tone blue you can make soft blue flowers and use blue pearls or
whatever colour you want to use. Also pearls are nice to fill a blanck spot to add
some stylish bling and flowers give a finishing touch or fill an empty space.
