Fancy Folds

Hallo lieve blogvrienden allemaal, Hi dear blog friends,

vormen. Ik ben benieuwd naar jullie mening.....

My friend for whom I made the 50e anniversary card a few posts back called me with
the following request: if I could make a card for a couple who have become 60 some time
ago and who are now going on retirement, for this occasion they are throwing a party.
She loves vintage, it's for theire retirement, she's female, he's male if I can put all of
these elements into one card ????????????????????? I tell you this was one big challenge
for me, something that I have never done before (happens to me a lot lately) I have had to
think about this and brainstorm over it for 2 days. It had to be feminin on one side but
also masculin on the other side. This is how I fixed this problem, the front I dedicated to
both of them, the inside I made a fancy fold to have more space and I used one side for
her which is very feminin and the other side I used for him which is very masculin and
the referral to theire retirement is somewhat in the middle. It sure wasn't easy because I
had to find a match between the feminin colours with the masculin colours. I had to
avoid that it would become a cacophony. I think (I HOPE) I succeeded, I really look
foreward to find out what you all think of it.....

Ik ga jullie eerst enkele details tonen. I will first show you some of the details.

Detail van het voorpaneel.  Alles is zelfgemaakt ook de achtergronden.
Detail of the front pannel, everything is handmade including the backgrounds.
Detail van het dames-midden panneel.
Detail of the feminin-middle pannel.

The lady is stamped and then heat set but to achieve a soft colour with some
shine I mixed two embossing powders Papermania Pink with Papermania Tinsel
Snowflake. After that I coloured it in with a waterbrush and Inka Gold Old Silver
and buffed it up to make it shine.

On this detail pic you see how luxurious her dress looks with the sparkles
and shine.

The little unbrella I made the same way and the bow is grey organza
which I coloured with Dylusions Ink spray Bubbelgum Pink.

Detail of the top of the feminin pannel. Al the little background papers and
tickets etc are handmade; stamped, inked up and so on.

Also here I stamped the image heat set it with Papermania Copper powder
and coloured it in with Inka Gold Old Silver and a waterbrush and then buffed it.

Hier zie je de glans beter.
Here you see the shine that it has.

Detail of the top of the masculin pannel. Also here everything is handmade.
The gears are from a Spellbinders embossingfolder then cut out worked on
with embossing powder copper and finished with some gesso.

Detail van de onderzijde. Detail of the bottom.

Achtergrond gemaakt
met de spellbinders embossingfolder en Stazon inkt.
Detail of the central masculin pannel. Background was made with the spellbinders
embossing folder and Stazon ink. The sentiment says: Finally Retired.

And now the time has arrived to reveal the whole card.

Front of the card dedicated to both of them. The sentiment says 'Congratulations'

Even binnen gluren. :-)
A sneak preview of what's inside ;-)

kaart sluit.
The inside of the card with on the left side the ladies part and on the right
side the men's part.  The two middle pannels fold in when you
close the card.

Here another pic of the card taken when it was lying down.

There was a need to write 8 names on the card so I also used the
back of the card and worked with a label.

I also would like to enter this card into following challenges:

De Creatieve Zebra # 12 - Alles mag

Hobby Cutz # 60 - Fancy Folds
It's two cards in one the inside is when you spread it out bigger than the outside
card. That's because the middle pannels are a little bit elevated. Everything
folds together when you close the card.

NKU # 73 - Alles mag

Kort 'O' Mania # 113 - Layer upon Layer
I have used several layers, the outside card is a layer, the inside card is a separate
layer and then all the layers of background papers too.

Crafty Girls Challenge # 25 - Anything Goes

That's it for today. I appologize for this long post but I cannot find how
to put more than 1 picture in a row. Like 2 or 3 next to each other.
Thank you all so much for your visit and for leaving me a comment.
I always look foreward to read your comments. I am very gratefull for this and
it is highly appreciated. Have a nice weekend, love, Veerle xxx

The templates are for die cutting machines, I did mine on the cameo silhouette so if you don’t have a machine you have to figure it all out so not good to buy from my friend’s store if you don’t have a machine, cameo or cricut would also do it...

I would send you the cut out templates but I would be violating Shirley’s copyright....I do all of my shapes on my machine whether I design them myself or purchase them...

I think your card was just gorgeous but it is frustrating if you have to measure, that’s how I started years ago when teaching scrapbooking and cardmaking then these wonderful machines were invented...

Wow!!! Veerle wonder no more because you have done an outstanding job on this card request!!! I don't think I would have pulled it off, but you have and have done a beautiful job of it too. I'm in awe at how clever you were to put that fancy fold on the inside. It worked out perfect for the "her" and "his" sides of the card. Love all the embellishments, the handmade backgrounds, everything is just stunning! Well done!! Hugs, Brenda

What imagination you have shown on this wonderful retirement card. I think you met all your challenge goals most successfully and these 2 lucky retirees are going to love this card. You've got the beautiful lady and the embossed gentleman. Am loving the little car and that fold out idea was spectacular, allowing you to develop a different area of the card for each of them specifically while still combining the theme of their togetherness. This is just a beautifully embellished vintage card, with a marvelously designed layout. WELL DONE! TFS & big hugs!
